All Bleckley County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2017 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.


PLEASE NOTE: The 21st Century After-School Program will dismiss early on Wednesday, December 14 at 5:00 and on Thursday, December 15 at 5:00. Students will return to 21st CCLC on Monday, January 9, 2017.


All schools will dismiss at 12:00 on Friday, December 16, for Christmas Holidays. The Primary School will not be providing childcare on that day. Students will return to school on Thursday, January 5, 2017.

BCES Announces Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Millie Smith, BCES Teacher of the Year!

The Bleckley County School System is currently completing the required Consolidated Application budget and planning process for federal funding. This process includes the 1% set-aside for Parent Involvement. These documents are available in draft form for parent review and input on Monday, October 25th from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  Please call Debbie Puckett, Director of Student Support and Federal Programs at 478-934-6726 for more details and to register for the work session.

All Bleckley County Schools are in the process of updating their Title I School Parent Compacts and Title I Parent Involvement Plans. The plans are posted on the website and are available in hard copy format at each school.  All parents are invited to provide input and feedback regarding the content of these plans. These documents are reviewed and updated annually. You may call or email your school principal to participate in the revision process.

BCHS One-Act to Perform "The Music Man, Jr."

The Bleckley County High School One-Act will be performing "The Music Man, Jr." on Thursday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m., and Monday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the BCHS Auditorium. The show is dedicated in memory of "The Music Man" himself, Mr. Louis Foster. The cost is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and children.

Last Day of School to Be a Half Day

The last day of school for Bleckley County students will be Friday, May 20. All students will be dismissed at noon. Please note that there will be no after-school childcare on that day.

BCES Celebrates Family Literacy Night

On March 3, Bleckley County Elementary School celebrated reading with a Family Literacy Night.  Students and parents were invited to come to the school from 5:30 until 7:00 and visit the various activities that were presented by the language arts and reading teachers.

Gifted Education Referral Information

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) referral forms may be picked up in each school's office during the month of January.  Completed forms must be returned by 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.

Georgia Parent Survey

The Georgia Parent Survey data results are used to develop a school's Climate Star Rating which is used as a diagnostic tool within the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) to determine if a school is on the right path to school improvement. This survey contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphones or tablet.  Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.
