Georgia Parent Survey

The Georgia Parent Survey data results are used to develop a school's Climate Star Rating which is used as a diagnostic tool within the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) to determine if a school is on the right path to school improvement. This survey contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphones or tablet.  Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Local Artist Speaks to BCHS Students

Bleckley County High School Business Classes and the BCHS FBLA organization were honored to have Mr. Derek Belflower join them as a guest speaker on Friday, October 21, 2016. Mr. Derek Belflower is one of our local Board of Education members, a local entrepreneur, and an illustrator at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins.

All Bleckley County Schools are in the process of updating their Title I School Parent Compacts and Title I Parent Involvement Plans. The plans are posted on the website and are available in hard copy format at each school.  All parents are invited to provide input and feedback regarding the content of these plans. These documents are reviewed and updated annually. You may call or email your school principal to participate in the revision process.

The Bleckley County School System is currently completing the required Consolidated Application budget and planning process for federal funding. This process includes the 1% set-aside for Parent Involvement. These documents are available in draft form for parent review and input on Monday, October 25th from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  Please call Debbie Puckett, Director of Student Support and Federal Programs at 478-934-6726 for more details and to register for the work session.

BCHS Students Earn FBLA Leader Level Awards

The FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Business Achievement Award Leader level focuses on local, district, regional, state, and national FBLA involvement, develops advanced business skills for members, and helps members become community leaders.  The Bleckley County High School FBLA Chapter 4622 is excited to announce that Tyler Sapp (Junior at BCHS) and Lacey Bell White (Senior at BCHS) have both achieved these awards over the past year.

Bleckley County High FFA Sr. and Jr. Teams Win Area Land Judging Career Development Event

The Bleckley County FFA Land Judging Teams recently placed 1st in the Area 3 FFA Land Judging Career Development Event.  The event was held at Fort Valley State University on September 29, 2016.

Team members Louie Lumley, Lizzy Parks, Jayshon Gardner, and Hunter Harper on the junior team and Tucker Felkins, Blake Bohannon, Evan Thomas, and Jacob Smith on the senior team. The teams will participate in state competition on October 29th, 2016 at Fort Valley State University.


Students Participate in FFA Area Floral Design

Bleckley County High School FFA members Hadden Powell and Seth Hall recently competed in the Area 3 FFA Floral Design Career Development Event. Hadden Powell placed 1st and Seth Hall placed 13th. The event was held at Camp John Hope in Fort Valley on September 29th, 2016. Hadden will compete at the State FFA floral design contest at ABAC on December 3rd.

BCHS One-Act to Perform "The Music Man, Jr."

The Bleckley County High School One-Act will be performing "The Music Man, Jr." on Thursday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m., and Monday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the BCHS Auditorium. The show is dedicated in memory of "The Music Man" himself, Mr. Louis Foster. The cost is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and children.

BCHS Students Attend Fall Leadership Rally

Students from the Bleckley County High School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently participated in a motivational rally held on Wednesday, October 12 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia. Over 4,700 students and advisers from schools across Georgia participated in the leadership rally session and competed in events. Along with other advisers and members from across the state, Bleckley County High School FCCLA Chapter Adviser, Sheryl Parks, accompanied 10 members to the meeting.

FBLA Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month
FBLA members and business classes at BCHS have kicked off their NDEA month with classroom activities focusing on what the Americans with Disabilities Act includes and what it means in the community and in our school. Students have created flyers, brochures, infographics and the like in recognition of the NDEA and will continue to do so throughout the month of October. Students will be working together to create public service announcements, invite guest speakers, create skits and more.

BCPS Second Graders Plant Vegetable Garden

Second Grade students at Bleckley Primary recently planted vegetables in the schools' box gardens.  The vegetables will be harvested and then prepared in the lunchroom for the Primary students to enjoy. Students Celebrate World Milk Day

You may think you have herd everything, but September 28 was World School Milk Day.  Celebrity guest, Bessie, visited the Bleckley County Pre-K and Primary School lunchrooms to serve their favorite dairy choices.  It seems udderly ridiculous to celebrate National School Milk Day without them!

CTSO Members Join the Fight Against Cancer

Bleckley County High School’s CTSOs spent the week educating students about Breast and Prostate cancer prevention and awareness. Each day at lunch, BCHS students had the opportunity to participate in an awareness activity. Each morning, interesting facts and prevention techniques, such as diet, were shared with the student body through announcements. The week culminated with the Pink and Blue- Out Game at the Royal Stadium where survivors, and those who are fighting cancer, were invited to participate in the balloon release and Royal run-through. The stadium fences were adorned with banners made by CTSO members in support of the fight against cancer. During the game, attendees had the opportunity to make donations to the BCHS Relay for Life team, participate in cake raffles and have their faces painted by CTSO members. The night was a great success in raising awareness and funds for cancer research. Thank you Bleckley County for participating!


BCMS Inaugural REACH Georgia Scholars Recognized

Bleckley County Schools welcomed Governor Nathan Deal this past Tuesday as part of the statewide REACH Signing Day. Governor Deal joined state, local, and school leaders in congratulating the five students who make up the inaugural class of REACH Scholars for the Bleckley County School District. The ceremony was held at the Bleckley County  Middle School (“BCMS”) Gymnasium and all BCMS students attended the ceremony.

The Bleckley County Schools REACH Scholars for FY17 are: Quadravious Johnson, ninth grade, son of Quadrae Johnson and Kiluwanna Height; Zyon Pasby, eighth grade, son of Kamau Pasby and Lula Hobes; Jayda James, eighth grade, daughter of Chris Williams and Erika Harris; Hope Dominey, eighth grade, daughter of Greg Dominy and Cynthia Dominy; and Demetrion Wells, eighth grade, son of Demetrice Wells and Shantell Johnson and the late Dantayus Ates.


The BCMS Barons football game on Thursday, October 6, will be held at the Middle School field and will begin at 4:00. Because there is limited seating available on the bleachers, you may want to bring a folding chair!

Kaylin Dykes, County Extension Associate, and several local 4-H'ers recently began working to prepare Bleckley Primary's box gardens for planting. Thanks to their hard work, Second Graders will soon be able to try out their "green thumbs" as they grow and harvest vegetables to be served in the BCPS lunchroom.

MIA Welcome Back BCMS Students

BCMS invited several men from our community to encourage students on their first day back at school. These Men In Action (MIA) included business owners, law enforcement,former students, and pastors. All of the men were excited to be able to participate in this back-to-school suprise and will continue working with BCMS throughout the year to motivate and mentor students.

BCMS End Zone Club Selling T-Shirts

The BCMS End Zone Club will be selling t-shirts to raise money for the 2016 BCMS Football team. The dry-fit style will be purple with the two-color graphic shown below.

The Seamless Summer Nutrition Program is currently under operation locally by the Bleckley County School Nutrition Program. The program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture. Meals are provided to children 18 years old and younger at no charge to the child and MUST BE EATEN AT THE SITE. No take outs allowed. Several site locations are listed below.

BCHS Boys' Track Team Makes History at State Meet

On Saturday, the BCHS boys' track team placed third in state Class AA competition, making this their best performance in school history! Carl Ellis Corley won the 3200 meter run and finished second in the 1600 meter. In addition, Austin Cook and Anuj Patel finished fifth and sixth respectively in the 800 meter run, Lequan Allen, Nykeem Farrow, Logan Pittman, and LaDerrick Vickers finished seventh in the 4X100, and Will Simmons finished second in pole vaulting. Congratulations to the entire track team and coaches on making school history!

BCHS Athletes Sign to Continue Sports Careers at Next Level

Several Bleckley County athletes have recently signed letters of intent to continue their sports careers at the  college level.  On May 6th, Cody Evans, quarterback for the Royals, signed with Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. On May 10, Austin Cook and Anuj Patel both signed with Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, where they will be members of the cross country and track teams. Congratulations and good luck to these young men!

Logan Pittman Named National Football Foundation Scholar/Citizen Athlete of the Year

Logan Pittman, a Senior at Bleckley County High School, was recently selected as the 2016 Scholar/Citizen Athlete of the Year by the Middle Georgia Chapter of the National Football Foundation. He will be recognized at an awards banquet on May 12 in Macon.  Logan is the son of Duane and Pebbles Pittman.

2017 Senior Portrait Information

Attached is a BPI flyer with a QR code and 2017 Senior portrait registration information. When scanned, this will launch the student/parent into a Google form that allows you to share your current mailing and contact information with BPI to receive important 2017 Senior portrait information. As an incentive, the student will be entered to win a free photo session. Last Day of School to Be a Half Day

The last day of school for Bleckley County students will be Friday, May 20. All students will be dismissed at noon. Please note that there will be no after-school childcare on that day.

Physicals for Athletes to Be Held At BCHS Gym on May 12

To participate in any middle or high school sport, students must have an up-to-date physical on file. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, physicals for students wishing to participate in middle and high school athletics will be available for $10 at the BCHS gym.  Physical evaluation forms can be downloaded using the following link:


Tucker Felkins Selected as Georgia FFA Foundation Convention Ambassador

Across the state, many FFA members applied for a spot as a Georgia FFA Foundation Ambassador and Bleckley County High School's own, Tucker Felkins, was selected to serve. Tucker is one of only sixteen ambassadors selected statewide. The purpose of serving as an ambassador is to escort and assist legislators, foundation donors, potential donors, judges, and guests of honor during the 88th Georgia FFA State Convention as well as help others develop a deeper appreciation of Georgia FFA. The convention will be held from April 28-30, 2016. Congratulations Tucker!


BCHS Students Participate in High School Tech Program

Bleckley County High School Students participated in the High School High Tech program sponsored by Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation this school year. On April 12, 2016, our students were invited to an end of the year luncheon at the Dublin Country Club. The following seniors entered a competition through the program and were surprised with new laptops fully installed with necessary programs for college or technical school:

BCHS Students Attend Georgia FCCLA State Leadership Conference

The Bleckley Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) traveled to the State FCCLA Leadership Convention in Athens, March 20 through 22. Eight members participated in leadership workshops, took the FCCLA Statesman test and presented their STAR Event projects.


KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION will be held at Bleckley County Primary School on Thursday April 21, 2016 beginning at 4:00 PM. Please bring your child to registration along with their: birth certificate, immunization record, social security card, ear, eye, and dental form and proof of residency. Children must turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2016 in order to register. Students presently enrolled in Pre-K at The Bleckley Learning Center (Wee Kingdom) will automatically be registered. We look forward to seeing you for registration! Tucker Felkins Selected to Participate in Washington Youth Tour

Since 1965, the Washington Youth Tour has given 1,650 students in Georgia and more than 40,000 students nationwide the opportunity to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The program was initially implemented at the request of President Lyndon Johnson to “send youngsters to the nation’s capital where they can actually see what the flag stands for and represents.”

The BCHS FFA will be having a one day plant sale on April 1, 2016, from 8:00 - 5:00. You may come and look at the plants prior to the sale. However, please do not ask to purchase any plants before the 1st.

Cassidy Fountain was recently named as the BCHS STAR Student for 2015-2016.  She chose Mr. Ray Martin as her STAR Teacher.  Congratulations to Cassidy for her hard work and to Mr. Martin for his impact on Cassidy's academic success!

Attend GA Senior Beta Convention

Bleckley County Beta Club members traveled to Atlanta recently for the annual Georgia Senior Beta Convention. Participants competed in a range of academic competitions as well as talent, oratory, poetry and art.                 

BCMS Lady Barons Second in Region

The Bleckley County Middle School Lady Barons placed second in region on Saturday, capping off  a 14-4 season.  Congratulations to Coach Hall, Coach Hulsey, and these hard-working young ladies!

Bleckley County FFA Team Wins State Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event

The Bleckley County FFA Agricultural Mechanics Team recently won the State FFA Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event.  The event was held at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, GA on February 6th.

Four Bleckley County FFA members recently place first in the Area 3 FFA Junior Agricultural Mechanics Career Development Event. The event was held at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley Ga on December 10, 2015. Team members were Louie Lumley, Nicholas Chapman, Elizabeth Parks and Beau Williams.

2015-2016 System Spelling Bee Winners

Bleckley County Elementary School and Bleckley County Middle School would like to congratulate the winners of the 2015-2016 Bleckley County School System Spelling Bee. 

Lady Royals to Host Semi-Finals and Finals

The Lady Royals basketball team will be hosting  semifinals and finals this Friday, 2/12, and Saturday, 2/13, at BCHS.  They will play at 7:00 on Friday against Monticello. The winner of Friday’s game will play Saturday @ 7:00 for the GHSA Region 4-AA championship;the loser of Friday’s game will play @ 4:00 on Saturday in the consolation game. The top 4 teams will automatically play in the 1st round of state.  Please come out and support our Lady Royals. Go BC!

BCMS Spelling Bee Winners

The BCHS Cross Country and Baseball Teams will be holding their annual "Runnin' with the Royals" 1 Mile Fun Run/5K Run/Walk on Saturday, January 30. 

Gifted Education Referral Information

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) referral forms may be picked up in each school's office during the month of January.  Completed forms must be returned by 3:15 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016.


Bleckley County High School CTSO clubs and members participated in the local Cochran Christmas Parade. 



Bleckley County Schools will be closed for Christmas Holidays 12/21/15  - 1/1/16.  January 4 will be a Teacher Workday/Student Holiday.  Merry Christmas!

The BCHS FBLA Chapter had a great Fall Leadership Conference in the Classic City! Chapter President, Chayce B., Vice President, Lacey B., Treasurer, Tyler, S., Reporter, Abbie A., Parliamentarian, Jordan S., and members Kalee A., Kendall M, Kasey M.,


Saturday, November 7, was a day of "firsts" for the BCHS Cross Country Team as they made history at State Competition. Those "firsts" include: 1st time BCHS has won state as a team in cross country; 1st boys' team to become State


On Thursday, November 5th, the Bleckley County Middle School Cheerleaders were named Region Champions for the first time since 2007!   They earned this honor by performing an incredibly complex, and almost flawless, routine that had everyone on their feet and cheering!  





On Friday night, members and coaches of Bleckley County's only undefeated football team were recognized.  The 1978 Royals, coached by Jimmy Kilpatrick, Larry Barlow, and Gary Morris, were 10 - 0 in the regular season. They were defeated in the first round of play-offs by Robert E. Lee. 


The Royals Boys' Basketball team is putting on a fundraiser and would love to have everyone's support. Check out the cool spirit items in the catalog which can be used as great Christmas gifts for friends and family or for you to wear to upcoming Royals games! ... 


On Thursday, October 29, the BCHS One Act Play finished second in Region. Ashley Strickland was named Best Actress in the Region; Sydney Hagler was named Best Supporting Actress; ...
