    Bleckley County High School Graduation This Saturday, 10 AM

    Bleckley County High School will hold commincment ceremonies Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Royal Stadium.  


    April Newbie Selected School Nutrition Employee of the Year

    Mrs. April Newbie has been selected by her peers as the 2013 School Nutrition Employee of the Year.  Mrs. Newbie is the Manager of the Bleckley County Learning Center lunchroom program and plays a large role in the Summer Feeding Program.  Mrs. Newbie always has a smile for her Pre-K students as she helps get their school years off to the right start.  Congratulations, Mrs. Newbie!


    Joe Bryant Named Transportation Employee of the Year

    Mr. Joe Bryant, Jr. has been selected as the first Bleckley County Schools Transportation Employee of the Year.  Mr. Joe has served as a driver, transportation director, and many other roles during his 43 year career.  You would be hard pressed to find a person in Bleckley County who attended our schools that hasn't at one time or another ridden Mr. Joe's bus!  They could not have picked a finer man, congratulations Mr. Joe!

    Bleckley County SHOCKERS!!!

    By Proclamation signed today by Dr. Charlotte Pipkin, Superintendent, the Bleckley County Schools have offically changed their name from April 2 through April 8, 2013, to the Bleckely County Shockers in honor of Carl Hall and his Wichita State Team earning their way to the Final Four!  Click View All for more...


    Kerbo AA Coach of the Year

    After leading his Royals to the the state finals this season, Coach Cliff Kerbo has been named the State AA Coach of the Year.  Kerbo's Royals finished the year 28-4, playing for the state title for the first time since 1965.  Congratulations Coach Kerbo!

    Beck 1st Team All-State

    Mario Beck has been named to the Georgia AA All-State Team. Beck led the Royals to the State AA Runner-up this season.  We are proud of you, Mario!


    Troup Selected State AA 2nd Team

    Bleckley County's Tia Troup has been selected as a member of the State AA Basketball All-State 2nd Team.  Tia and the Lady Royals made it to the Elite 8 in this years State Tournament.  Great job Tia!

    The Bleckley County Schools will be closed on Friday, March 8, 2013 for a Winter Break Holiday.

    Tickets for Championship Game $10

    Tickets for Friday's State AA Championship Game are $10 each and can only be purchased at the gate.  Parking at the Macon Centraplex is reported to be $7 per vehicle.


    Join the "ROYAL" Send-Off, Downtown Friday!

    Everyone is invited to park and line the streets of downtown Cochran at 12:15 on Friday to give the team a great Bleckley County send-off. Everyone show up with your purple and support our boys in their quest for a state Championship.


    Community Pep Rally Thursday!

    There will be a Community-Wide Pep Rally for the Royals Basketball Team at 6:00 PM on Thursday in the High School Gym.  EVERYONE IS INVITED!!!!

    Our Bleckley County Royals advance to the State AA Semi-Finals with an impressive 69-67 win over Vidalia.  They will met Jordon Friday at 5:30 PM at Georgia College in Milledgeville.

    Lady Royals Send Irish Packing!

    Coach Manning and her Lady Royalsbeat Dublin in the game when it counted the most, advancing to the State AA Elite 8 with a 67-60 win over the Irish.  The team will now travel to Thomasville on Tuesday.  Game time will be 6:00 PM.


    Royals win Thriller over Westside!

    The Royals built an early lead and over came a late surge to defeat highly ranked Westover-Augusta to advance to the round of Elite 8!  Coach Kerbo and his team will now travel to Vidalia Wednesday for a 6:00 PM State Quarter-Final Game.

    Rep. Bubber Epps Visited Bleckley County Pre-K To celebrate Georgia’s Pre-K program and its 20th Anniversary, Representative Bubber Epps sat alongside a group of 4-year-olds on October 4 visiting Bleckley County Pre-K as part of Georgia Pre-K Week 2012.
    BCMS Wins League Championship  Congratulations to the Bleckley County Middle School Cross Country Teams for winning the Middle Georgia League Championship.  Both the boys and girls teams ran away with first place honors at the meet held in Cochran on Tuesday.  Both will compete this Saturday in theMiddle School State Championship
    ROYALS vs. Dodge County TONIGHT!!!  Come and cheer loud as the Bleckley County Royals take on the Dodge County Indians tonight at 7:30 PM in Royal Stadium.
    BCES Open House on Thursday  Bleckley County Elementary School invites you to join them for Open House on Thursday, September 27 at 6 PM.  The Book Fair will be open!
    Lady Royal Softball Advances in Region Play
    BCHS swept a Double header form Putnam County Monday on a rain soaked field to advance to the Region Finals on Thursday against Monticello at 5 PM.     Our Royals will host the first round of the state tournament next week.  Make plans to be there!

     


    Last Public Performance Tonight for One Act! Tonight at 7:00 PM the Bleckley County One Act Cast & Crew will give their final public performance of "Back to the '80s" before region on Thursday.  Don't miss another outstanding production by this group.
    Cross Country Boys 3rd, Girls 4th  The Runnin' Royals had an excellent weekend in Carrolton with the Boys team bringing home the 3rd Place trophy and the Girls' team finishing 4th.  Third is the best finish ever by the Boys.  Ellen Powell was the 5th place girls individual runner.  Great season Royals!
    Running Royals Go for State Titles  Both the boys and girls cross county teams will be in Carrolton Saturday morning to compete for the AA State Championship at 10:00 AM.  Good Luck to Coach Cranford and the Royals!
    Teachers of the Year Recognized  The Bleckley County Board of Education and State Bank of Cochran honored the school's Teachers of the Year at their monthly meeting.  Each received a plaque recognizing their accomplishment and a monetary award from State Bank. Read More...
    Lady Royals Win Region; Advance to State Play

    The Bleckley County girls basketball team won the Region 4AA championship and will host Cook Co. tonight at 6:00 PM in the first round of state. This was a great accomplishment for our girls.  Please come and support our girls team tonight. Cost is $7.00


    Lady Royals Advance: Host Dublin Friday

    Our Lady Royals defeated Cook County in the opening round of the state AA playoffs.  The win moves their rocord to 23-6.  Next up is Dublin at home this Friday night at 6:00 PM.  Tickets are $7.00.  Come out to support our girls!

    Antonio Sanders has been named Support person of the Year at Bleckley County Middle School.  Congratulations Mr. Sanders!


    Royals Defeat Thomasville, Advance to Round 2

    Our Royals soundly defeated Thomasville Wednesday night and will now take their 25-3 record on the road as they square off against Westside-Augusta Saturday at 5:00 PM.  We need all you Royal fans there to cheer them on! GoodLuck Royals!


    Royals Region Runner-Up

    The Bleckley County Royals Basketball Team finished second in the region tournament.  They will host Thomasville in the first round of State AA action Wednesday night at 6:00 PM.  Admission will be $7.00.  Come out to support our Team!

    Cheerleaders at State  The 4AA Champion Lady Royal Cheerleaders will take the floor on Saturday afternoon in search of a state title in the Columbus Civic Center.  Good Luck Ladies!
    Cheerleaders Compete at State  The Royal Cheerleaders competed last Saturday in Columbus for the AA State Title and finished in 11th place.  Great season ladies, we are proud of you!

    Royals Home Friday vs. Monticello  BCHS will close out the regular season Home schedule this Friday night at Royal Stadium with a 7:30 PM contest against the Purple Hurricanes.  BE THERE!!!
    Barons Host Toombs County  The Bleckley Middle School Barons will host Toombs County this Thursday in Royal Stadium.  We need a large crowd on hand to cheer these boys to victory!
    PARCC Items Released Teachers, The Georgia DOE has released Test and Task items that will be part of the new PARCC Assessment.
    Lady Royals advance to 2nd Round  The Lady royal Softball team swept two games from Thomasville and have advanced to Round 2 of the state playoffs.  The team will be on the road Wednesday at Harlem of Augusta.  Good Luck Team and keep those bat alive!
    PARENTS: Report Cards go Home Wednesday!  All school will send home Report Cards for the first nine weeks grading period on Wednesday, October 17.  Be sure to ask your child about theirs!  
    BOE Meets Tonight  The Bleckley County Board of Education will meet tonight in their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.  The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM in the Board room located at 242 East Dykes Street, Cochran.

    HOMECOMING WEEK!!! BCHS is celebrating Homecoming Week with a host of activities, all leading to the big Region Game with Crawford County On Friday at 7:30 PM in Royal Stadium.  Everyone come out for the game! 
    Royals at Putnam County September 28  Our Royals open Region play on Friday as they travel to Putnam County.  Come out and support the team as they try to build on a huge win against Dodge County last week.
    Royals Travel to Northeast Macon Tonight  Our Royals will conclude regular season play tonight in Macon against the Northeast Raiders at Thompson Stadium.  We need everyone there wearing Purple and cheering LOUD!
    Royals #2, Host Early County Friday With a 28-20 win over Northeast on Friday night, the Royals clinched the second seed in Region 4AA and will host the first playoff game at Royal stadium since 1981.  The Royals will face off against Early County at 7:30 PM Friday night.
    BCS Awarded $1,000,000 Grant

    The Bleckley County School System has been awarded a Striving Reader Comprehensive Literacy Grant for $1,148,002.  Funds will be use to develop and implement literacy plans that address the needs of all chidlren birth through grade twelve with the ultimate goal that upon graduation, all students will be college and career ready.

    BCHS One Act Host Region   BCHS will host the Region Competition on October 18 at the Bleckley County High School Auditorium.  Good Luck Team!
    Royals Continue Region Play  The Royals are back home this Friday night against Region 4AA opponent Taylor County.  Kick off is at 7:30 PM.  The Game will be a "PINK-OUT" to show support of cancer survivors.  Wear your Pink and cheer load for the ROYALS!!!

    Middle School Cheerleaders Compete for Championship  On Tuesday, November 6, the BCMS Cheerleaders will travel to Swainsboro to compete in their league Championship.  Everyone come out to support these girls.  Go Barons!
    BCMS Recognized by GASSP Bleckley County Middle School has received the 2012 Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals Breakout Schools Award.  This award is designed to identify, recognize, and showcase Georgia middle schools that are high achieving or dramatically improving student achievement and is the highest honor awarded to middle schools by the GASSP.

    Big Week for Middle School Cross Country On Saturday October 20, at 9:00 AM, schools from across the state will converge on our school for the Middle School State Championship.  This is always a great event with a huge turn out.  Get there early!

    BCES Named "Highest Performing School"  Bleckley County Elementary School has been recognized as a Highest Performing School in a press release by Georgia State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge.
    Gifted Education Referrals Students in the Bleckley County School District who demonstrate a high degree of intellectual, academic, and/or creative ability are provided with instructional services by the Program for Gifted Students. Eligibility criteria for placement in this program are determined by the State Board of Education. Referrals for consideration of eligibility for gifted services may be made by teachers, counselors, administrators, parents or guardians, peers, self, and other individuals with knowledge of the student’s abilities.

    Bleckley County School District Honored at State Capitol for Serving More Local Food to Students

    Powell, Cranford Honored  Ellen Powell had been named to the All Middle Georgia Cross Country Team and her Coach, Shelly Cranford, was named Coach of the Year.  Powell lead her Team to a 4th place finish at state while Cranford's Boys Team also finished 3rd.  Congratulations!
    BCMS Science Teachers Receive EMC Grants
    Bleckley County Students Receive Award at International Student Media Festival The movie entered by a group of 5th grade boys (now in 6th grade) including Adam Belflower, Cade Jones, Andy Long, Noah Shedd, Joseph Stewart,  and Porter Wimberly, and coached by Brandi Anderson and Lynn Young, attained a superior rating at the Georgia Student Media Festival in March and received an invitation to enter the International Student Media Festival.

    Bleckley County Schools Partner with NASA Through a partnership with NASA and the Robins Museum of Aviation, Bleckley County Students at the Primary, Elementary, and Middle School will have first-hand opportunities to work with scientist and learn about space.

    GHSGT Retakes for Former Students

    Former Bleckley County High School students who received a Certificate of Attendance or Special Education Diploma upon leaving high school and wish to retest on the Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT) must contact the School Test Coordinator at Bleckley County High School  at (478) 934-6258 to register for test participation.
