Bleckley County Elementary School Named as a 2014 Georgia Reward School (Highest-Performing School)

On September 16, 2014, Bleckley County Elementary School received word that the school was named as a 2014 Highest-Performing Georgia Reward School by State School Superintendent, Dr. John Barge.  A Highest-Performing School is among the five percent of the state’s Title I schools with the highest absolute performance, over three years, for the “all students” group on the statewide assessments. A school may not be classified as a Highest-Performing School if it has been identified as a Priority, Focus, or Alert School. BCES was the only school in the Heart of Georgia RESA area to earn the highest performing distinction, and this is the third year in a row that BCES has received with this special reward.

Bleckley Police Department Visits Pre-K

Halloween is an exciting time for young children, but can also be dangerous if safety precautions aren’t taken.  Officers from Cochran Police Department visited Bleckley County Pre-K on Thursday, Oct. 30 to talk to students about Halloween safety.  Each class was visited by the officers and students had an opportunity to ask questions.  Every student received a bag to use for trick-or-treating.  Pre-K teachers followed-up with additional activities to reinforce what the officers taught.   We appreciate the Cochran Police Department’s support and efforts in helping our students learn the importance of Halloween safety.
